In a shocking announcement, Disney confirmed the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser will take its final voyage September 28-30. It opened in early 2021 but has not been able to keep rooms occupied due to its high price and very specific audience.

What will Disney do with this empty hotel and immersive experience now? While it will likely be a few years before anything comes to fruition, it is fun to speculate what will take its place. We looked at a few possibilities in this post.

In a recent interview, Josh D'Amaro talked about the canceled project and what (if anything) will come after it.

D'Amaro said he's always pushing the park designers (known as Imagineers) to take risks and not be afraid to try something new.

"Raise the bar. Try things that the guests aren't even asking for because they don't know to ask for that," he says. "I know not everything's going to work. What did work, though, is we took creativity and storytelling to a completely new level, to a level that had never existed before. ... It didn't work commercially. And so, when we realized that, you just make a call and move on."

So, what will become of the hotel after the last guests check out in September? "No hints yet," D'Amaro says, smiling, "but something will happen."

It's pretty clear Disney already has plans in motion to replace Starcruiser with something. We will keep you updated on what they may be!

  1. A Snow White and the seven dwarfs themed hotel and forest surrounding the hotel. It would be really cool to have that forest and the seven dwarfs walking around all day singing their songs.

  2. Turn it into a homeless shelter for old droids and the people behind all the new starwars shows on Disney plus

  3. It would be cool to see it a cartoon land themed cruise where you go on a trip like Who Framed Roger Rabbit if they can get the rights. Or even just a time travel cruise. The idea of a mystery immersive cruise where you aren’t actually going anyway is amazing, but appealing to a larger crowd than the rich Star Wars fans would turn this idea into something more commercially successful.

  4. Odds are they'll rip all the theming out and make it into new executive offices to replace the ones that were bulldozed to make Toy Story Land.

  5. Hopefully they just turn that space into an expansion for galaxys edge. Include a new ride and gift shop

  6. I think new imagineers are coming to the for front all the time they have ideas and they will come up with something extraordinary and my niece will lead the pack! sallaD

  7. I don't believe that the building will be used for anything for a long, long time, if ever. Disney wants the tax write-off on the building, and it can't take a write-off if it keeps the building in service. Instead I believe that Disney will strip the building of anything valuable and leave the shell to stand vacant.
