Disney released exciting casting news for its upcoming animated musical Wish. Meet the new character here!
Wish
Wish may be exactly what many Disney fans have been wishing for recently. As wave after wave of live-action reboots, sequels, or spin-offs hit theatres and comes directly to Disney+, many fans have been expressing their desire to see the company concentrate on producing more new and original content like Encanto rather than retelling stories in a new way.
Wish, which was originally announced in 2022, explores the idea of how the wishing star, the one that multiple Disney characters have wished upon over the years, came to be. It is a concept that seems perfect for a film from Disney Animation Studios.
At its center is a girl called Asha who, desperate to save her home, turns to the stars themselves. When she makes a wish, a cosmic force named “Star” comes to help her. The duo faces off against what is promised to be a formidable villain!
New Details Emerge
Disney JUST released new details surrounding the film including a first look at a new original character including the actor slated for the role. Chris Pine officially kicks off his reign as King Magnifico, the ruler of the Kingdom of Rosas!
The character has been described as charismatic, charming, and magnanimous. He is the most powerful person in Rosas.
You may recognize Chirs Pine from other Disney movies including The Princess Diaries! He also played parts in A Wrinkle in Time as well as Into the Woods.
Chris Pine will play the King in Wish.
When Can You See Wish
You will not have to wait very long to see the new original story come to life on the big screen. The theatrical release date for Wish is currently set for November 22, 2023.
