One attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has undergone a secret closure. Here’s the latest update.
Secret Closures
Disney recently closed portions of two attractions. Portions of Tower of Terror have been closed for several months now. Half of Alien Swirling Saucers also closed. Back in May, KtP noticed a malfunctioning ride vehicle, and not long after the entire side closed.
By closing only portions of both of these attractions, it allows Disney to keep the attractions up and running. Unfortunately, capacity will be limited which will cause wait times to soar. Disney has not shared why either of these rides required partial closures.
Secret Closure Over for one Ride
For the last several weeks, construction walls covered one half of Alien Swirling Saucers. You can see our photos HERE. Fortunately, the blue walls have come down and the ride is back up and running. There are a few ride vehicles still missing, but for the most part things are back to normal.
With summer crowds arriving to Disney World, it’s more important than ever to have all rides at full capacity. Otherwise things can become chaotic and wait times can increase drastically. Hollywood Studios remains a very popular park with several headliners. Therefore, it’s even more important that those rides are fully functioning.
Tower of Terror Still not Fully Open
We are excited to see Alien Swirling Saucers back to normal, but we are still waiting for the unofficial Tower of Terror refurbishment to be complete. This is ongoing for all of 2022 so far, and wait times can reach 2 hours.
This means it’s even more important than ever to prioritize this attraction for Genie+ selections. It will sell more quickly than other rides. Instead of late afternoon or evening, it may sell out by late morning/early afternoon.

I Live in Florida and I have Always Loved Disney. Last September we stayed at the Swan & Dolphin resort on Disney Property for a Week. I can except from time to time different rides have to be closed for either updated on the ride or maintenance overhaul. The big problem I do have is the cost of everything. To stay at a Disney property Hotel and enter the parks its Very expensive to say the least. I understand the upkeep and All it takes in running such a Massive company, The problem is how much Profit is enough. When you read the news and see that the CEO received a bonus of Millions of dollars that’s Ridiculous. The employees salaries are terrible I know this for a fact because I had a niece who worked there for 9 years in Management and quit because she saw no future with the work she was putting in and the salary she was being payed. I know Disney as a Business has to make a Profit, but my question is How much Profit is enough Profit.
