Beacons of Magic
Among the many anniversary celebrations that are happening at Walt Disney World are the Beacons of Magic. Each park icon has received stunning makeovers celebrating Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
In the Magic Kingdom, Cinderella Castle has received a beautiful makeover. We loved seeing the castle transform in anticipation of one of the park’s biggest celebrations.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Tree of Life glows in a warm light with what Disney describes as “enchanted fireflies gather to call forth the magic of nature”.
The Hollywood Tower Hotel at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has also received an “ear-idescent” glow along with Spaceship Earth at EPCOT.

In my (Maggie) opinion, one of the best Beacons of Magic is Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. Spaceship Earth has always looked beautiful during the day and at night.
The Beacons of Magic for Spaceship Earth in person is simply stunning! I could really just stand there for hours admiring all of the lights.
To celebrate EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays, Walt Disney Imagineers created a new holiday light show for Spaceship Earth. Check out all of the fun merchandise and new popcorn bucket that has just debuted for the festival HERE.
New Holiday Light Show

Holidays are a special time at EPCOT — a time to showcase the traditions, music, food and entertainment shared around the world. To help celebrate the launch of International Festival of the Holidays today, Imagineers developed a new lighting composition for Spaceship Earth. Adding to Beacons of Magic, guests will see some new sparkle and a nod to EPCOT holidays past.
Our team was inspired by the concept of light ushering in holiday celebrations around the world, and our Imagineering team created new programming reflective of starlight in clear winter skies and the beautiful green and blue glow of the Aurora Borealis northern lights.

Spaceship Earth – as both the park icon and a symbol of the rich legacy is this park’s past, present and future – holds a special power. It has memory. It was here from the start of EPCOT and is a symbol of connection shared by us all across time. We are excited to use this new lighting system to harken back to concepts and stories from the park’s past.
And for the first time we are bringing that concept to life – by referencing visual elements from the Lights of Winter holiday display that graced the World Showcase bridge from 1994 until 2008. Fans of EPCOT’s history may even be able to pick out these visual elements! The EPCOT legacy is alive in the new experiences coming to this park — we proudly pass along our passion for future generations to enjoy.
