We have been so excited to announce changes in the face mask policy for both Guests and Cast Members. Check out how this new change in the face mask policy is now allowing Cast Members to interact with Guests even more.

New Face Mask Change

Recently, we have seen so many changes to the face mask policy at Walt Disney World. Earlier this month, we shared that Cast Members working outside, who were able to maintain proper distancing, were no longer required to wear face masks.

Previously all Cast Members were required to wear a face mask. In addition certain Cast Members who had close interaction with Guests were also required to wear a face shield as well. Another update came on June 15th. Cast Members were no required to wear face shields in any capacity.

Yesterday a BIG change came for all vaccinated Cast Members. Starting today, June 25, 2021, all vaccinated Cast Members are no longer required to wear face masks. This includes both outdoors and indoors.

Affects Guest Experience

Due to the previous health and safety guidelines, Cast Members were unable to take photos of Guests with the Guest’s phones. This was a rather big change for many Guests. We wanted all Cast Members to remain safe, but it took a little time to get used to.

When the Parks first reopened, Cast Members had to remind Guests to maintain 6 feet when asking questions or needing assistance. Prior to the Park closures, many Guests would often ask a PhotoPass photographer to also take a photo with their personal phone or camera.

While visiting the Disney Parks, we saw many Guests befriend fellow Guests in line to help capture pictures using their personal phone. This will no longer be needed. Starting today, Cast Members are once again allowed to hold your phone to take pictures.

This also allows Cast Members to help direct Guests with directional questions on a paper map or on the My Disney Experience app as well. This is a welcome change as things continue to return to “normal” at the Disney Parks.

Starting today, Cast Members are once again allowed to hold your phone to take pictures.

What do you think of this change for Guest and Cast Member interaction? Do you think this is another positive sign that things are returning to normal? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
