When you think of Disney dining, you most likely think of Character Dining. Character meals are a great way to get out of the heat and meet some fun characters.

Enjoying a character meal will let you have a meal without waiting in line to meet characters. Character lines in the park can get long as there are currently no Lightning Lanes for character meets.

Many guests justify the higher price of Character Dining for this reasoneven though the actual food may be not worth the cost.

Most Character Dining offers characters at every meal, but select locations only offer characters for select times, such as Topolinos at Disney’s Riviera Resort and Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

Today, June 6, 2025, guests are left disappointed that had reservations at ‘Ohana. These reservations were canceled, and the My Disney Experience app notified guests, “Ohana is unexpectedly closed for dinner tonight.”

“We apologize for the inconvenience. Please use the My Disney Experience to check for availability at one of our other dining locations.”

‘Ohana Cancelations

This is unfortunate for these guests. We heard rumors of the smell of smoke near ‘Ohana, but this has not been confirmed by Disney. We are hopeful that dining will resume in the morning.

‘Ohana abruptly closed on June 6, 2025.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that ‘Ohana. In the past, it has closed several times in the past due to potential fire and gas leaks. Recently, all guests in the Grand Ceremonial House were evacuated the other day due to a fire alarm. If ‘Ohana is a “must-do” for your next family vacation, you may want to have a backup dining plan just in case.
