Rooms at Disney Resorts sleep anywhere from 2 to 12 people based on room category and resort. However, one resort now sees a lower maximum occupancy which may make it more difficult to plan your stay.
Room Occupancy
Disney World Resorts host groups of all sizes, and they have a wide variety of rooms to accommodate! You can have as few as 2 people (Tower Studios at Disney’s Riviera Resort) or as many as 12 people in the 3-bedroom Grand Villas at various Deluxe Resorts.
Part of the appeal of staying at Disney Resort is having the options to choose a resort and room based on your travel party’s individual needs.
However, Disney’s Fort Wilderness actually sees a reduction in the total number of people allowed on a reservation. Here are the details
New Rule
Up until today, Guests staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness could have 10 people at a campsite. In case you were not aware, The Fort is a campground, and Guests can either stay in a cabin or bring their RV/tent and camp at a site.
However, now the maximum occupany has been reduced to 8 people. We have seen reports that this has gone into effect for any new reservation in 2024 and 2025.
You may be wondering why Disney made this change. While we do not know for sure, Disney may be trying to limit the total number of Guests staying at the Resort at one time. It can be very crowded during peak seasons like holidays.
How does this affect you?
You may also be wondering if you can just leave some people off your reservation and still bring more than 8 people. The answer is yes, you technically could. But there are some consequences.
Disney only allows 8 people on a campsite reservation vs the previous 10.
Any action that requires a name to be on a reservation will not apply to your entire travel party if people are left off the reservation. For example, Cast Members check that the number of people present matches the total number of Guests on a reservation for Early Entry.
In addition, Individual Lightning Lanes purchased before park open will not be permitted for anyone not linked to a resort. Your best course of action in this situation is to purchase another campsite if your travel party exceeds 8 people.
