During the First Quarter Earnings Call earlier this year Disney CEO Bob Iger shared that James Cameron’s newest film Avatar Way of Water is the 4th biggest film and has had tremendous success.

For several years, guests enjoy the immersive Land of Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It is one the most immersive and beautiful lands Disney has created in the last several years. I (Monica) love visiting at night to watch the bioluminescent plants.

Now a brand new Avatar experience will be coming to Disneyland. We know that you all have questions about what this may look like and where this new experience may be located.

At the time, Iger shared that more information will be available soon. This will be such an amazing experience for Disneyland. We can’t wait to learn more about this exciting addition.

During the Walt Disney Imagineering Lunch & Learn at the IAAPA Expo, Disney revealed the experience will be located at Disney California Adventure Park.

I know what you’re thinking: California Adventure? Really? Many speculate it will take the place of Redwood Creek or one of the backlot areas in Hollywood Land.

The specific location remains to be seen, but it doesn’t make any sense for this experience to take place in Pixar Pier, Avengers Campus, or Cars Land.

So far that is all the information we have. There is nothing known about what type of “experience” it will be. It surely will not be an attraction on a grand scale. Maybe we will see some behind-the-scenes action? Or, maybe it will be a much smaller version of Pandora at Animal Kingdom without the attractions and dining.

Moana, Journey of Water could also be a “template” for Disney to incorporate IP into the parks on a smaller scale.
