Major Vehicle Crash Closes Disney Springs Area Now

The Orange County Sheriff's Department has closed the roads near Disney Springs due to a major car accident.

At approximately 9:18 PM on August 10, the Orange County Sherriff's Department responded to a call for assistance. The call reported a major car accident in the area near Disney Springs. Here's the details we know thus far.

Initial Report

Heidi Tandy (@travelingheidi) first made us aware of this development at 9:35pm. We began investigation as soon as we possibly could, but didn't hinder the police effort in the area. Thanks to Heidi for helping us get the news out to help you avoid the area.

Roads Closed

This photo was taken from the Disney Springs area looking back towards World Drive / Epcot / Magic Kingdom area. The Sherriff's Department had completely closed the road in this direction. We don't usually see public officials completely close roads for a typical fender bender.

When the public officials closed the section of road, they directed ALL traffic leaving the Orange and Lime garages away from the area. Traffic had to flow towards Saratoga Springs and the Disney Springs hotel district.

Map of the Area

This Google Map image shows the approximate area of the car accident. It's on Lake Buena Vista Drive between Disney Springs and Bonnet Creek Parkway. The dashed lines indicate a portion of the area that is currently closed to all traffic. Traffic was not allowed to enter the area from Epcot Center Dr nor Bonnet Creek Parkway as well and traffic was closed in BOTH directions.

From this Google Maps view, you can see the Disney Springs area and the way that ALL traffic was forced to go away from Epcot Center Dr. The accident appears to be just beyond Typhoon Lagoon and before Bonnet Creek Parkway.

Our concern is for those who may be involved in this traffic accident. We will update you with further information as it becomes available.
