Walt Disney World has been slowly inching towards becoming cashless over the past several years. One big push towards cashless interactions is on the My Disney Experience app.

Through the My Disney Experience app, guests can Mobile Order at a variety of quick service dining locations. The My Disney Experience app has received multiple updates to help make this easier for guests.

Guests can even skip lines at select merchandise locations and complete the Mobile Checkout on the My Disney Experience app. This even stores your applicable discounts and applies this to your purchase.

The idea of going cashless and skipping lines at quick service and merchandise locations sounds great until there are technical issues. This past August, major outages impacted all of Walt Disney World.

This affected transportation, attractions, and even paying with anything other than cash. On several occasions, the My Disney Experience app issued warnings that only PayPal could be accepted due to technical issues throughout Walt Disney World.

Needless to say, the idea of a completely cashless Walt Disney World has us a little concerned.

We are beginning to see a few signs warning guests that this is a "Cashless Location: Please pay with credit card, Disney gift card, or mobile payment." Currently, we have seen these signs at the food cart located in the Cinderella Castle hub at Magic Kingdom. At Disney's Animal Kingdom, there are two locations. at a small snack stand in Asia at Disney's Animal Kingdom, and

The first is at Drinkwallah in Asia, and the second is a small snack stand also located in Asia. It is uncertain if more locations are also going cashless, but this is the current listing.

If you only have cash, guests are invited to visit another location that accepts cash or to purchase a Disney gift card available for purchase at many Walt Disney World merchandise locations.
