Well, this is definitely not good during the busiest week of the year. A Disney World attraction faces a multi-day closure due to new cases.

Holiday Season

The week before and after Christmas is historically one of the busiest times of the year to visit. Many Guests look to spend their winter break at the Most Magical Place on Earth. With pent up travel demand and the 50th anniversary celebrations, this year surely looks different.

Orlando Airport is even anticipating several heavy travel days. Be sure to check out the dates so you can have a good handle on navigating the airport.

As such, Disney has made many changes to accommodate the crowds about to head in. For example, four Individual Lightning Lane Selections attractions are temporarily moving to Genie+. This will save you some money and hopefully help Disney streamline Lightning Lane Guests.

Additionally, Early Theme Park Entry is also extended from 30 minutes to 60 minutes! This means onsite Guests can enter the park an hour before offsite Guests. This will be crucial in knocking out those headliners at the beginning of the day.

Disney is increasing theme park hours to accommodate the crowds. Read more about these changes HERE.

Not what Disney was hoping for

With all of the adjustments mentioned above to accommodate the crowds, Disney was surely not hoping for a multi-day ride closure during the busiest week of the year. But, that is exactly what we are seeing.

Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been closed for the last three days (December 29, 30, and 31). Disney Cast Members are making the best of it with games and little treats for Guests outside the attraction, but it has definitely been a tough month for this ride.

It temporarily closed earlier this month due to smoke inside the building. Plus, it also received some enhancements to the iconic guitar outside.

New cases

So why the closure for Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster? KennythePirate sources informed us this closure is due to new positive cases affecting College Program participants. It’s probable a Guest or Cast Member came down with the illness and it spread like fire within that indoor area.

Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster is closed due to new cases among College Program participants.

With the recent updates, the attraction could be closed for a few more days until Cast Members are feeling well enough to return to work. Instead of spending a week or two training new Cast Members on the attraction, Disney is opting to simply close the ride.

We will be sure to update when the ride reopens and if any additional Disney World attractions close in the coming weeks.

We are hopeful everyone stays healthy during this holiday season! Are you at Disney World this week? What do you think of Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster closing due to new cases among Cast Members? Let us know in the comments below and on Facebook.

The students of the Disney College Program are working very hard to do the best they can . Most of them are away from their families, feeling under the weather and trying to stay within their budgets while not working. Please keep them in your prayers.

You say "Illness". Do we assume "Covid"?

Let's please stop saying someone "came down with the illness". Probably had people test positive but are asymptomatic- the VAST majority of cases. Testing positive for a virus is MUCH different.

We totally lucked out. We were there on the 28th and got on twice. We were also at AK today and got on Everest 3x before it went down. Maybe we’re a curse??
