My Disney Experience is experiencing technical difficulties. Check out what’s affected here, and how this may impact your planning.

Disney Technology

How to navigate Disney World without a magic band

It seems like guests rely more and more on technology at Disney World. Everything from mobile ordering to checking into your hotel requires My Disney Experience.

Not only that, but the new Genie system runs through My Disney Experience too. Technology can help things run smoothly, but when Disney Tech goes wrong it can also dampen your day.

It’s crucial to have everyone linked in My Disney Experience. At Disney World, the My Disney Experience app and website continues to be the heart of planning Disney vacations. Guests manage reservations as well as tickets and itineraries on the “My Plans” section.

In addition, guests manage profiles, mobile ordering, see PhotoPass photos and dining reservations. If you’re curious about current wait times, those are also displayed on My Disney Experience.

Without access to others in your party, there is no way to book park reservations together or see dining reservations. Linking everyone also lets you see each other’s PhotoPass photos.

The need for My Disney Experience to be running efficiently is crucial to your vacation. So, what happens when it’s not?

Error Pop Up Message

If you haven’t created My Disney Experience account for yourself or others in your party, you may need to wait to do that. According to the pop up error on My Disney Experience, creating new accounts, resetting passwords and email confirmations may be delayed.

At this time, you may be unable to create a new account or reset your password. Email confirmations may also be delayed. We apologize for any inconvenience.

I (Susan) hope this doesn’t affect your plans! There’s no telling how long it takes for Disney IT to correct the issue. Hopefully, Disney will fix this error soon!

Will this error affect your planning? Or has it affected your day in the theme park? Please share your thoughts in the comments below, on Facebook, or in our crew on Facebook.

  1. Even before Genie started I was having issues with booking meals. I am not happy that you must be on your phone all the time in the park. The idea of the park is to disconnect. How do you teach your children to live in the moment with a phone in your face? It is taking away the magic.
I also agree with another comment about not being able to reach anyone on the phone. Chat is disabled on the computer and in app can take 48 hours to get a reply. I go in person at the park to guest services and am told their system is down so they can’t help me. Too much technology is not always a good thing.

  2. Genie has been telling me that I can start to make ADRs for our trip but my window doesn’t open up for another day. God forbid that you want to talk to a real person at Disney on the phone. You won’t get through for hours and then you will get disconnected and get to restart the entire waiting process multiple times.

  3. !I don’t like being glued to my phone all day, for rides, to order food, to make passes etc.! I am concerned as we are a group of 11 coming just before Thanksgiving and am dreading all of this besides the COST. To be totally aggravating besides…..Ugh!
