Contemporary Resort
One of Disney’s first resort hotels is the Contemporary Resort. It opened in 1971 and is within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom. Disney is in the process of refurbishing the resort, and it is expected to last until September 2021. We are glad to see that it will be complete before the 50th anniversary.
In April, work began on the transformation of this Resort. Unfortunately, Guests were greeted with a less than “Incredible” site. Check out the view of this refurbishment HERE.
New Rooms
This past week, Walt Disney World shared a look inside a newly designed room at the Contemporary. In one word these new rooms are “Incredible”. We loved the new retro motif featuring our favorite “Incredible” characters.
We also fell in love with the new design of the bathrooms. Check out more pictures of these newly designed rooms HERE. Currently all nine floors of the tower’s guest rooms are being refurbished. This is such a welcome update for this classic Resort.
Lobby Closure
Guests that will be staying at the Contemporary Resort will need to be aware that the first floor lobby will soon be closing. This lobby will soon be reimagined which will allow for a new layout for both the check-in and lobby seating.
The first floor lobby will be closed starting July 16, 2021 and will remain closed until late September. Guests staying at the Contemporary Resort will still be able to visit the front desk on the 2nd floor lobby during this refurbishment.

What else will be affected with this refurbishment? The current refurbishment will also close The Wave restaurant located in the Contemporary Resort as well. Check out the dates for this refurbishment HERE.
Guests will still have access to the elevators, escalators, and restrooms during this refurbishment of the first floor lobby. Bus transportation will also be accessible through the first floor lobby as well.
