Universal Orlando Announces Running Event!

Universal announced a race weekend for February 2020!

The 5k is priced at $77 for a basic entry while the 10k is priced at $111. There are also VIP add-ons and fan options as well as hotel and ticket packages. According to the Universal Orlando page, your standard race registration includes:

  • Epic Character Race participation

  • Themed dri-fit shirt (adult sizes only)
    Race bib with timing tag
  • Drawstring bag
  • On-course and post-race refreshments
  • Downloadable finisher certificate

  • Opportunity to purchase Running Universal specially priced theme park admission ticket with your registration

Their VIP race registration gets you a post race breakfast, a character photo op and a commemorative water bottle. VIP is priced at $132 for the 5k and $174 for the 10k. They are also offering an Epic Fan option for spectators to root for you! The Epic fan option is $49 and includes refreshments and reserved seating at the finish line.

Finally, Universal Orlando Resort is also offering ticket and hotel packages. The packages include a single race registration for one individual, hotel room and 2 day 2 park (aka park to park) tickets for your family. I priced out a stay so I could show our readers an example for a family of 4, staying for 3 nights to allow for package pick up time.

3 nights at their least expensive resort and 2day park to park tickets for a family of 4 is about $1,600.

I am not much of a runner anymore, having done a lot of RunDisney events prior to my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. Now I usually like to rest more than run to keep my body going strong. I did walk the 10K during Disney’s marathon weekend in 2018 for Give Kids the World Village. But getting up early is just not for me! I wish Disney would bring back the Tower of Terror 10 miler, which was in the evening with an after party in Hollywood Studios for the runners and their friends.

Have you done a RunDisney event? Would you like to try the Universal version?
